It’s a winner on Twitter. The Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) official hashtags (both English and Arabic) saw a record-breaking number of 613 million viewers during its 33rd edition.

This is the biggest achievement ever made on social media since SIBF which concluded on Saturday began using social networking sites.

According to ‘HashTracking.com’ website SIBF tweets and posts have exceeded all expectations after reaching unprecedented numbers for book fairs and cultural exhibitions locally and regionally.

Arabic hashtag used in SIBF received 102 million unique views from all around the world while hashtag #SIBF14 in English received 61 million views. The impressions for the Arabic hashtag amounted to 376 million compared to 237 million impressions for the English hashtag bringing the total number to 613 million impressions throughout the fair’s 11 days.

This reflects the strong presence of SIBF and the circulation of its news among users of social networking sites where the tweets bearing the SIBF hashtag reached 17500 in Arabic and 6000 in English.

Twitterati using the Arabic hashtag totaled to 8100 users while those who used the English hashtag reached 2600 users noting that these figures are limited to Twitter and do not include the rest of renowned social networking sites such as Facebook Instagram and Google Plus which saw thousands of participations in many languages.

Khoula Al Mujaini Marketing Officer at SIBF said these figures regarding people’s interaction with the fair via social networking sites demonstrate the strong interest from Twitter users and followers from different countries nationalities and ages. Al Mujaini thanked social media users for their coverage of the fair. -newskhaleejtimes.com
