Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE to return envoys to Qatar


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain have agreed to return their ambassadors to Qatar, an official statement said following a one-day summit meeting among the GCC leaders in Riyadh.

Leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council concluded what they called Riyadh Accord that paved way for the return of ambassadors of Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain in the Qatari capital, Doha, the statement noted Sunday.

They underlined that the Riyadh Accord would pave way for the opening of a new page that would resemble a solid foundation to push forward common action.

The GCC leaders said this accord would ultimately create a strong Gulf bloc capable of confronting critical challenges in order to maintain security and stability.

Therefore, the statement said, Riyadh, Manama and Abu Dhabi decided to send back their envoys to Doha.

The summit talks were hosted by Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, and attended by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, UAE's Vice-President, Prime Minister and ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashed Al-Maktoum, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and deputy Supreme Commander of UAE's armed forces Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Khalifa.
