UAE- Sachin visits adopted village in Andhra
Tendulkar who has adopted the village arrived early Sunday morning and laid the foundation stone for taking up Rs29 million worth developmental works in the first phase including a community centre Anganwadi school with kitchen a play ground waiting halls and toilets.
The objective is to develop Puttamrajuvari Kandrika as a ‘smart village with all amenities including development of roads lanes electricity and water supply school amenities as also providing Wi-Fi connectivity to the village households.
The cricket icon also administered an oath to the villagers asking them to stay away from tobacco and alcohol besides participating in a friendly match with a delighted bunch of village children for whom it was a dream come true to be in the middle with the legend.
The awe-struck villagers gave a rousing reception to Tendulkar when he stepped out of his car. The village and the road leading to it wore a festive look with banners and hoardings put up to welcome the retired cricketer. Tendulkar mingled with the villagers much to their delight and sought inputs on their requirements.
During the interaction the villagers pointed out to Tendulkar that the village was suffering from lack of proper roads sanitation facilities basic amenities and the inadequate power supply. — newskhaleejtimes.com
