(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The services on offer at the innovative licensing app comprise renewal of vehicle licensing and driving licence; issuance of replacement of a lost or damaged vehicle registration card or driving licence.
The recently launched licensing service app of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has recorded over 26000 downloads in the last two months according to the public transport service authority. The RTA Drivers and Vehicles app was launched in mid-September this year and can be downloaded through smart phones (Blackberry Android and Apple).
Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan CEO of RTA Licensing Agency said: “Having more than 26000 downloads of the app is a good number and a positive indicator considering the short period since the service was launched.”
Renewing vehicles registration or the driving licence was usually processed through familiar channels namely: smart kiosk RTA website trusted agents and via the authority’s call centre (8009090).
“The multiple benefits of the service include receiving a phone-generated notice that the licence renewal date is approaching or is expiring and reducing the renewal stages to about six steps.
The customer can also take a photograph of his licensing card code via his smart phone camera. This snapshot will be automatically communicated to RTA app portal where renewal process will be initiated” he said. “Moreover the customers can figure out the locations of service delivery in case they wish to complete the renewal through the nearest centre or else the they can avail the ePay service for assistance” explained Bahrozyan.

“There are several options for the customer to receive the transaction copy once processed via the RTA app. They can receive the transaction receipts through e-mail courier private post office box or the smart kiosk where the customer will be prompted to enter the code of the completed transaction and obtain the deliverable” he said.
The initiative has been certified by The International Commission for Driver Testing a global organisation concerned with motorists’ affairs with membership comprising 35 countries; and the International Motor Vehicle Inspection Committee an international body concerned with vehicle affairs comprising 53 countries as members. -dhanushakhaleejtimes.com
