Saudi- ECRA governor opens GE Lighting's road show
(MENAFN- Arab News) Abdullah Al-Shehri governor of Electricity & Co-Generation Regulatory Authority (ECRA) inaugurated a special road show organized by GE Lighting that aims to strengthen awareness on energy-efficient lighting and highlight the newest advances in sustainable lighting solutions that will support the Kingdom's focus on promoting energy use efficiency.
Al-Shehri flagged off the GE Mobile Lighting Experience Center at a special ceremony held at the Saudi GE Innovation Center in Dhahran Techno Valley. To tour several cities in the Kingdom the Mobile Lighting Experience Center showcases a wide range of sustainable lighting technologies that contribute to increased energy efficiency and reduced environmental emissions.
Al-Shehri said: 'With energy consumption reaching record highs to meet the demands of infrastructure development and a growing population Saudi Arabia is focusing on replacing traditional lighting systems with the energy-efficient LED solutions. At ECRA we are committed to implementing and supporting initiatives that contribute to the rational use of electricity.'
He added: 'LED lighting is today an ideal fit to achieve significant savings in power usage and we work with various stakeholders to promote its wider usage across the Kingdom. GE being the pioneer of LED technology we are confident that the road show will create further awareness on the urgent need to adopt energy-efficient lighting' Al-Shehri said.
Hisham Albahkali GE's president and CEO for Saudi Arabia and Bahrain said: 'GE's innovative lighting appliances has been used in supporting the infrastructure needs of the Kingdom for over several decades.The Mobile Lighting Experience Center puts the spotlight on the path-breaking LED lighting systems offered and will strengthen awareness among the public both infrastructure developers and end-users on the need to shift to a more sustainable model of lighting for the benefit of our future generations.'
Praveen Sharma product GM of GE Lighting MENAT said: 'We are thankful to the support of ECRA to our road show to further strengthen awareness of LED lighting. Saudi Arabia is one of the key and long-term markets for GE Lighting and the response to our LEDs has been strong. Through the road show we are reaching out to our stakeholders and the community to realize the value that LED brings in achieving energy and cost-savings and reducing emissions.'
GE is showcasing a full spectrum of LED products in the Mobile Lighting Experience Center that will tour from Dammam to Jubail and Riyadh.
