GCC Leaders Agree to Return Ambassadors to Qatar


(MENAFN- QNA) A joint statement was released Sunday following the meeting of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani with King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia Custodian of the Two Holly Mosques, Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah, King Hamad bin Eissa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, UAE Vice President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashed Al Maktoum, who is also UAE Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The statement said that the leaders met in Riyadh today to enhance the spirit of cooperation and stress on their belief of their respective countries' common fate.

The leaders also reached an agreement that compliments the original Riyadh one. The new agreement will be a "new slate" that will push forward joint work towards a strong and united GCC bod, the statement added. The statement also said that the critical moment in history that the region is facing requires compounding efforts to protect security and stability.

The leaders also agreed that the ambassadors of Saudi Arabia, UAE and Bahrain return to the State of Qatar. The three countries have withdrawn their respective ambassadors earlier in the year.
