Two Boeing B737s join Oman Air fleet


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Two Boeing B737 series aircraft have joined Oman Air's fleet taking its strength to 32.

A press release stated that the induction marks the start of a three-year expansion programme. 'These are the first of 24 aircraft which will join the national carrier between now and 2018 taking the fleet strength to 54.'

The first B737-800 aircraft joined the fleet on November 6 while the second B737-900 joined on November 14. These new aircraft will operate on short and medium haul routes covering the Middle East the sub-continent and East Africa.

Apart from 15 Boeing B737s six B787 Dreamliners and three Airbus A330s will join the national carrier's fleet over the next three years.

'It is also a very good sign that Oman Air's expansion programme is now underway. We look forward over the next three years to continuing to increase the size of our fleet. This will allow us to introduce more frequencies improve connection times on established routes and unveil more exciting destinations across the world.' 

The new B737's business class cabin has 12 seats while the economy class offers 150 seats.
