(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)  "I would like once again to thank the patron of the venue Shaikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for all his contributions to the development of the UAE racing season through this popular facility," he said. Speaking to newsmen at the Majlis Ballroom at the racecourse, Al Sayegh noted that Shaikh Hamdan has been awarded the Cartier Racing Award as a leading UK owner, the same award which was previously won by the Queen Elizabeth and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai," he said. "It's a successful campaign that was initiated by late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to eventually put the UAE and Abu Dhabi on the map of the global Arabian racing," he added. Regarding the decision of Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum to retire Mukhadraam to stud, Al Sayeg said they have lost recently one of the most successful stallions, Jazil, the Belmont Stakes champion and Mukhadraam will be standing in UK as a replacement. "It has been decided to fix the mating fees at a promotional rate of £60.000 at this stage and the same would be revised later," he said. Engineer Sharief Al Halawani, general manager of the Jebel Ali Racecourse, added: "We meet once again to celebrate Al Aweer Meeting on Friday and enjoy another lovely afternoon at the outskirts of the city.

"A total of 130 valuable gifts, including electronic items and cash prizes courtesy of the Al Abbar Contracting Company will be drawn against free coupons to be distributed at the entry gates. Twenty lucky racegoers will have a chance to win Dh400 each in Al Adiyat Puzzle. This is over and above the double cast and pick six competitions which carry a total prize of Dh62,500," he confirmed. "There's also a chance to drive away a brand new KIA Picanto which will be raffled at the end of the final against nominal value of Dh10 only," he said.
