Qatari Port project to cost USD7.41b


(MENAFN) Qatar's New Port Project, which is expected to cost USD7.41 billion, has awarded contracts worth a total of USD4.22 billion thus far, with 53 percent of these contracts being won by local companies, which won contracts worth USD2.23 billion, The Peninsula Qatar reported.

The new port, which is expected to be completed by 2020, is considered to be one of the largest infrastructure projects, covering a total land space of 26 kilometer.

The first phase is expected to be completed in 2016, with a capacity of receiving two million containers, while its full capacity is expected to reach 6 million containers once the two remaining phases are finished.
