Afghan President arrives in Pakistan


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))  President of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani arrived in Islamabad on Friday on his first ever visit to Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for in-depth discussion on bilateral issues, regional affairs and to further expand bilateral ties.

The visiting president was received by Pakistan's Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and National Security, Sartaj Aziz, at the Nur Khan base.

He was accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising senior leaders, cabinet ministers, high-ranking officials and business representatives.

Ghani is scheduled to hold meetings with President Mamnoon Hussain and the prime minister during his two-day visit.

President Ghani, who took the office in September this year, has chosen to visit Pakistan after his recent visits to Saudi Arabia and China.
