Lighting specialist in LA recently had his truck and $50000 worth of equipment stolen. He needs the equipment to continue working.

Most crowdfunding projects involve a start-up business a movie a book and occasionally a worthwhile charity. Michael Roddy's project is different.

He's needs help piecing his life back together.

Roddy an entertainment lighting specialist in Los Angeles recently had his truck stolen. It contained more than $50000 worth of lighting and grip equipment that was not insured for theft. His entire income depends on having this equipment.

“That was my whole business” said Roddy the owner Raging Pig Productions which specializes in lighting for independent films and low-budget television shows music videos and commercials. “I worked for many years to accumulate this equipment. Now it's gone and so is my livelihood.”

He filed a police report and speaks with the detectives covering the case on a regular basis. “I am hoping for a miracle but not counting on it” Roddy admitted. “The more time that goes by the less chance there is that it will be found intact if at all.”

He launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise at least part of the money and start working again. The crowdfunding page can be viewed at www.indiegogo.com/projects/help-rebuild-a-stolen-business and includes a couple of film clips for which he did the lighting.

Donations of any amount are welcome. For a $15 contribution backers will receive a Raging Pig Productions T-shirt. Roddy also has a deal for indie filmmakers: He'll provide a lighting crew and equipment for any project for a $1000 contribution.

“We'll work something out so that the value of the lighting services will definitely exceed the amount of your donation” he said. “You will save a considerable amount of money I promise.”

His goal is to raise $35000 which would replace most of the equipment in the truck.

“If I do not reach that goal I can at least replace some of the larger more important components and continue to add to it as I keep working” Roddy said. “If you can find it in your heart to donate something even a little to get me moving in the right direction it would be amazing. I am passionate about what I do and would love to continue my life's work.”
