Jordan Monarch Meets U.S. Secretary of State


(MENAFN- QNA) King Abdullah II of Jordan met here on Thursday with the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry who is visiting Jordan as a part of a tour in the region.
During the meeting, they discussed the developments in the Middle East and peace efforts in addition to the regional and international efforts to fight terrorism.
King Abdullah emphasized the importance if the American role in creating the appropriate conditions for the re-launch of peace negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians on basis of the two-state solution and the Arab Peace Initiative in order to achieve a comprehensive and just solution to the Palestinian issue.
He stressed that there is no alternative to the establishment of an independent and viable Palestinian state on the June 1967 lines with its capital in East Jerusalem as a way for achieving the desired peace.
For his part, Kerry briefed the king on U.S. efforts regarding peace in the region and in the international coalition to fight the extremist terrorist organizations.
