US AT&T to stop investing in fiber network cities

(MENAFN) AT&T, the American multinational telecommunication company said that it will "pause" investment in fiber networks until the net neutrality is over, QNA reported.

The announcement came two days ago after U.S, President urged the Federal Communications Commission to reclassify broadband as a utility and impose bans on blocking, throttling, and paid prioritization.

"We can't go out and invest that kind of money deploying fiber to 100 cities not knowing under what rules those investments will be governed," the company CEO told investors.

The company's CEO added that they expect it is practical to stop and make sure that they have line of sight and understanding as to what those rules look like.
