Honda produces jet engines to boost aviation business


(MENAFN) Honda Motor Co. commenced manufacturing engines for its Hondajet small aircraft at a subsidiary's facility in Burlington, North Carolina, aiming the start of delivery after receiving certification from the U.S, Federation Aviation Administration in the first quarter of 2015, Kyodo News reported.

The HF120 turbofan engine, jointly developed with U.S electric equipment giant General Electric Co., is roughly 10 percent more fuel efficient than competingunits of the same class, a major improvement of the Hondajet's capability.

The company have the capacity to build 500 engines per year, it also targets supplying some units to Sierra Industries Ltd., a U.S. aircraft maintenance company, hoping to take advantage of economies scale.
