Freelancer Limited (ASX:FLN) has launched its Freelancer App on Apple’s iOS providing iPhone and iPad users with enhanced communication between Freelancers and employers.

Together with the successful launch of the Android App in April 2014 Freelancer can now support its 13.7 million global member base wherever they are and on whatever device they choose.

These are all part of the company’s strategy to position itself as the Amazon.com of the outsourcing industry.

“We are focused on building a full service mobile offering for our global member base of more than 13.7 million skilled Freelancers and employers” chief executive officer Matt Barrie said.

“Increasingly professionals are opting to work from their mobile devices on the go. Freelancer will be able to support anyone working online from wherever they are and on whatever device they choose.”

Freelancer reported receipts from customers of $6.8 million in the September 2014 quarter up from the $6.3 million it received in the June quarter.

In the first half of 2014 the company had net revenue of $11.9 million up 41% from the same period in 2013 as well as gross margins of 88.3%.

The world's largest outsourcing market place had reported net operating cash flow of $246000 on revenue of $18.54 million in the full 12 months of 2013.

Key Features

The company’s Freelancer App for iOS has the following features:

- Stay in touch with Freelancers and employers anywhere anytime;
- Receive instant notifications with push notifications;
- See whether current contacts are online so users can chat in real time;
- Employers are able to award projects to the winning Freelancers on the go; and
- Freelancers are able to accept job offers from employers wherever they are.

A more advanced version of the app with post project and bidding functionality will be available in coming weeks.

Since the launch of the Android App in April 2014 1 million messages have been sent via the app as of August.

In addition 10000 projects have been posted from mobile and 50000 app downloads have been made as of September.

The Android App has seen 8.7% per week growth in users since launch.

Analysis

The release of the iOS version of its App extends the reach of Freelancer’s mobile offering allowing its global member base of more than 13.7 million skilled Freelancers and employers to work on almost any device they choose.

Growth for the Freelancer app already launched for Android devices where mobile users have been growing at 8.7% per week since launch of that app in April 2014 has been brisk.  If this is any guide then the user take up on the iOS is likely to be robust.

Freelance continues to build momentum with receipts from customers of $6.8 million in the September 2014 quarter up from the $6.3 million it received in the June quarter. Net operating cash outflows were $1.0 million for the September quarter.

Revenues for the 9 months to September 30 were $18.6 million. Freelancer had cash balances of $19.7 million

The momentum of Freelancer becoming the Amazon.com of the outsourcing industry is growing.
