More than 30 teams register for Injaz Oman's Sharikati competition


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) More than 30 teams from ten colleges are taking part in the 2014 edition of the annual student entrepreneurship competition Sharikati organised by Injaz Oman. This year marks the biggest participation in the competition ever since Injaz started its operations in the sultanate nine years ago.

Speaking about the competition Shabib al Maamari executive director of Injaz Oman said 'This is the first time we are having the event across the country. So far ten colleges have registered for it and we are expecting more entries.' The organisation is trying to rope in some colleges from Dhofar as well Maamari said.   'Last year there were only four colleges. This year we are expecting more than ten colleges to participate. That's why we are excited.'

Last year's teams were from the Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) Higher College of Technology Muscat Nizwa College of Technology and Nizwa University. Maamari said Injaz Oman is looking at targeting 50000 students for the competition in the coming years.   Over the years Sharikati has produced some of the best student products including Omani coffee various software tea bags with spoons etc.

Some 150 volunteers from  the Muscat Electricity Holding Company are also helping in organising this year's competition. All participating teams will have a chance to market their products at an exhibition to be held at Muscat Grand Mall in March.

The winners of the competition will be declared in June Maamari said.    Injaz Oman is a part of Injaz al Arab a non-profit confederation collaborating with corporates and ministries of education to provide entrepreneurship education and experiential training to Arab youth.
