Works of celebrated Omani artists go on display at Gallery Sarah


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) 'Honoured' an exhibition showcasing works of nine Omani artists began at Gallery Sarah on Tuesday. Works of Anwar Sonya Moosa Omar Ahmed al Mashaikhi Ayoub al Balushi Suhair Fouda Saif al Amri Mohammed al Saigh Mohammed Fadhil and Dr Mona al Baiti are on show at the exhibition.

The art show has been organised in partnership with the Omani Society for Fine Arts (OSFA) and was inaugurated by Sheikh Ahmed bin Suwaidan bin Mohammed al Bulushi.

Farah Asqul manager Gallery Sarah said 'These nine artists were honoured at the 22nd Annual Art Exhibition 2014 organised by OSFA. Many of the works are Oman-inspired pieces showcasing different painting printing and sculpting techniques of some of the country's most influential artists.' Artists like Sonya and Omar have pushed the boundaries of their practice for many years paving the way for future generations of Omani artists to explore build install and create a lasting legacy in the sultanate she said.

'Bait al Zubair encourages artists in the sultanate and it is a pleasure to collaborate with Maryam al Zadjali director of OSFA. She wanted to do something different. With so many local artists she wanted another venue to host works of the very special ones.'

'Honoured' features works by some of the artists who started in the '70s and have showcased their works across the world. 'We've also tried to feature different mediums such as sculpture monochrome and calligraphy' Farah said. 

The exhibition will run until December 7 from 9.30am to 6pm from Saturday to Thursday.
