GCC defence ministers arrive in Kuwait ahead of Joint Defence meeting


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) GCC Defense Ministers arrived in Kuwait to participate in the 13th GCC Joint Defense Council meeting, which officially kicks off tomorrow at Bayan Palace.

Upon arrival, the ministers were greeted by Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah.

The Joint Defence meetings come to follow up on progress made in previous encounters and aim to achieve further military cooperation between GCC armed forces.

The one-day meeting is scheduled to also discuss a number of military topics and find ways to strengthen military cooperation amid challenges facing the six countries.

The meeting will focus on a range of issues relevant to strengthening coordination and cooperation in the military field between GCC countries, unifying efforts and supporting the security and stability of the region.

The ministers in charge of defence from Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates have thus far arrived, along with GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdulatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani and the Commander of the joint GCC Peninsula Shield Maj. Gen. Hasan Hamzah Al-Shehri.
