Uganda declared free of Marburg virus

(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Uganda is free of the Ebola-like Marburg virus, which
killed a health worker one and a half months ago, the government said Tuesday, according to dpa.

'There have been no new Marburg cases reported' since the victim died September 28, Deputy Health Minister Sarah Opendi said.

The radiographer worked at a Kampala hospital and was buried in western Uganda.

All of the 197 people who were in contact with him tested negative for the disease, Opendi said.
