GCC Interior Ministries' Undersecretaries Start Meeting in Kuwait

(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) It is incumbent on GCC security apparatuses to be wary of the precarious security situation currently buffeting the region, said a Kuwaiti official at a meeting on Tuesday.

Undersecretary of Kuwait's Ministry of Interior Lt. Gen. Sulaiman Al-Fahad - speaking at the preparatory meeting for GCC Interior ministries' undersecretaries, ahead of the 33rd GCC Interior ministers' meeting at a later date - emphasized the enormity of the problem of terrorism that is plaguing some countries of the region, KUNA reported.

He also underlined in his speech in the meeting the imperative that GCC youth be protected by the authorities from socio-political influences that may lead them astray, seeking excitement through illegal drugs, using social networks for ill-gotten gains, and acquiring unlicensed weapons.

On his part, GCC Secretariat assistant director for security issues Brigadier Hazza'a Al-Hajri, in a similar speech at today's preparatory meeting, indicated that the Secretariat had prepared the procedures that needed to be followed in order to implement the recommendations and resolutions and decisions arrived at in the 32nd GCC Interior ministers meeting which took place in Manama, Bahrain.
