Palestinian Worker Killed in Karm Abu Salem Crossing

(MENAFN- QNA) A Palestinian worker was killed and two others injured, one seriously, in a series of explosions which occurred Thursday morning in fuel pipes that feed the Strip at Karm Abu Salim crossing in Rafah, Southeast of Gaza Strip.

Health Ministry Spokesman Ashraf Al-Qidra told reporters that a charred body and injured persons were brought to hospital.

Al-Qidra identified the killed young man as Mohammed Ahmed Bahloul (17), adding that his father sustained serious burns while another 60-years-old Palestinian suffered from moderate burns.

For his part, an official source said that the explosions were caused by a fire that broke out in a large tank, and it was not easy to bring it under control.

A security source confirmed the explosions lasted for more than half an hour and led to an outbreak of a huge fire in the place.

Karm Abu Salem is the only crossing used to bring fuel and goods into Gaza Strip.
