Saudi- Hong Kong official warns protesters face arrest
(MENAFN- Arab News) HONG KONG: A senior Hong Kong official has warned pro-democracy protesters camped out on main streets in the city for more than six weeks that they face arrest if they don't comply with a court order to leave.
Chief Secretary Carrie Lam said also Tuesday that there's no room for further dialogue with the student-led protesters raising the prospect of further violence as the government struggles to end the standoff.
Lam's remarks came a day after Hong Kong's High Court extended injunctions requiring protesters to leave two of the three protest sites.
The court also authorized bailiffs to seek police assistance to clear the areas.
Lam said 'the police will give full assistance including making arrests where necessary' to enforce the injunctions.
