(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani expresses hope that the new government would be able to cope with political, security and economic challenges that hinder the march of the country towards sovereignty.

Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani said on Monday that formation of the new government in Yemen was an important step for bolstering constitutional institutions and moving forward the peaceful political process.

Al Zayani stressed, in a statement carried by KUNA, the importance of this step in bringing Yemen out of the current troubled situation, expressing hope that the new Yemeni government headed by Khaled Bahah would be able to cope with political, security and economic challenges that hinder the march of the country towards the extension of state sovereignty, preservation of Yemen's security and stability and to continue efforts towards development and reconstruction.

He praised the cooperation of national political forces that put the supreme interests of Yemen and its people above everything else and supported the formation of the government, stemming from their keenness to maintain Yemen's security, stability, unity and sovereignty.

He underscored the continued GCC support for the relentless efforts of the Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi along with the Yemeni political forces in order to continue the political process through the implementation of the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism.
