(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Priority was given to Islamic publishers because the 33rd edition of the SIBF coincided with the declaration of Sharjah as the Islamic Cultural Capital for 2014.
Sharjah: Organisers of the Sharjah International Book Fair (ISBF) had to turn down more than 250 publishing houses this year because of increased demand.
Speaking to Ahmed Al Amr Director-General of the fair said that these publishers could not participate and their names remained in the waiting list because of the pressure from local and global publishers wishing to be present during such a prominent cultural event.
He added priority was given to Islamic publishers because the 33rd edition of the SIBF coincided with the declaration of Sharjah as the Islamic Cultural Capital for 2014.
