(MENAFN- QNA) Jordanian King Abdullah II met Sunday with European Union High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, who is currently visiting Jordan within a tour to the region after assuming her position earlier this month.

They discussed bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them further in all fields. They discussed developments in Al Quds and the King stressed Jordan's opposition to Israel's policies towards Al Aqsa mosque in particular.

As for the Syrian crisis, King Abdullah stressed on the importance of reaching a political resolution to the crisis. He also highlighted the impact hosting refugees has had on Jordanian infra-structure.

For her part, Mogherini briefed the Jordanian king on the outcomes of her meeting with Palestinian and Israeli officials. She also highlighted the EU's support to peace in the region.
