UAE- Shaikh Ahmed wins visionary award


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Emirates airlines and Chief Executive of the Emirates Group, received The Maritime Standard Special "Maritime Visionary Award" in recognition of his exceptional foresight in supporting and revitalising the UAE's maritime sector in his role as Chairman of Dubai World.

The award was presented recently at a ceremony in Dubai where leaders representing all facets of the industry from the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent were present.

Al Masah Capital founder and chief executive officer Shailesh Dash won the two prestigious awards - "Global Visionary CEO of the Year Award 2014" and "Middle East Business Leadership Awards € Investment Sector" - for his leadership and contribution towards driving the organisation to greater heights and subsequently be globally recognised.

Organised by Leaders Magazine International Malaysia and the Federation of GCC Chambers, the fifth Middle East Business Leadership Awards 2014 was held in Dubai recently.

Al Habtoor, Lulu in partnership

Al Habtoor Group and Lulu Group have partnered to launch an innovative concept whereby motorists can shop or dine inside a mall while their cars are being cared for.

The pioneering concept, called SpeedFit Auto Clinic, was officially launched in RAK Mall, the Lulu Group's premier shopping, dining and entertaining destination in the Northern Emirates, and makes RAK Mall the first shopping mall in the region to offer this unique service. It was inaugurated by Karl Hamer, managing director of Al Habtoor Motors, in the presence of Hussain Jamal, RAK Mall manager; Neil Coolledge, general manager of SpeedFit; and other officials.

Over 1,500 projects at YEC 2014

More than 1,500 projects have been submitted by applicants in the first stage for this year's 10th cycle of the Young Entrepreneur Competition 2014 organised by Dubai SME.

Over 370 projects have been shortlisted from the initial applications and in the next stage the public will be given the opportunity to evaluate the projects on Facebook and Google+ before the final list of candidates are announced, according to the YEC Organising Committee.
