UNSC welcomes Yemeni new gov't


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) UN Security Council welcomed the formation of Yemen's new government and urged all parties and political actors in Yemen to unite behind President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, Prime Minister Khaled Bahah, and the new cabinet to keep the country on the path to stability and security.

The members of the Security Council expressed in a statement their support to Yemeni President Hadi and Prime Minister Bahah to participate peacefully and constructively in taking forward this transition, based on full implementation of the Peace and National Partnership Agreement, the National Dialogue Conference Outcomes, and the Gulf Cooperation Council Initiative and its Implementation Mechanism.

The Council underscored the importance of moving forward with an inclusive transition process that represents all of Yemenآ's diverse communities.

The Security Council recalled its decision to designate three individuals as subject to the assets freeze and travel ban measures outlined, respectively, in paragraphs 11 and 15 of Security Council resolution 2140 (2014), the members of the Security Council underscored the international communityآ's commitment to support a peaceful Yemeni political transition process.

Furthermore, the Council urged all parties in Yemen to adhere to resolving their differences through dialogue and consultation, reject acts of violence to achieve political goals, refrain from provocation, and fully abide by resolutions 2014 (2011), 2051 (2012), and 2140 (2014).

The statement underscored that the Council remain closely engaged on the situation in Yemen and the next steps toward a peaceful political transition, therefore, in this regard, the members of the Security Council welcomed the continued and coordinated efforts of the Gulf Cooperation Council, آ'the Group of Ten Ambassadors,آ' the UN Secretary-Generalآ's Good Offices, including through the Special Adviser Jamal Benomar, and the wider diplomatic community.
