US welcomes Australian contribution to fight Ebola

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))  The US welcomed on Thursday Australia's funding announcement to install 100 beds for an Ebola treatment unit in Sierra Leone.

The government in Canberra will contribute a little over USD 17 million for the project.

US State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki told reporters that the money will also go "to the RedR, an organization that will arrange for the deployment of Australian specialists to the effected region in support of the World Health Organization, and additional efforts to strengthen preparedness in the Asia-Pacific region." "We welcome these important additional contributions from Australia. We will continue to work with Australia, the UN, other international partners and effected countries to contain the Ebola outbreak at its source," she added.
