Hyundai, Kia eye 25 percent growth in fuel economy by 2020

(MENAFN) Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Motors Corp expect a 25 percent growth in the fuel economy of their cars by 2020, Yonhap News reported.

The "2020 mileage improvement roadmap" aims remarkable improvements in the powertrain lineup, measures to decrease the weight of vehicles and the introduction of more eco-friendly hybrid, electric-powered cars and hydrogen fuel-cell models.

The announcement comes after Hyundai Motor Group chairman called on the two carmakers last year to achieve the best fuel economy ratings by 2020. The company and Kia are the flagship companies of the world's fifth-largest automotive conglomerate.
