GCC to launch USD8.9b merger, acquisition deals


(MENAFN) The GCC countries posted USD8.9 billion worth of merger and acquisition deals during January-March period as the global M&A landscape recorded an 11.7 percent surge on the last full year during the first three quarters of 2014, thanks to the growing real estate sector, Khaleej Times reported.

The Gulf countries experienced decreased targeted M&A activity, according to Mergermarket, the leading intelligence and news service in the world for mergers in its "Q3 2014 M&A Trend Report for the GCC".

GCC deals hit a total value in the first three quarters of 2014 decreased 38.6 percent compared with the same period last year, which came at USD14.5 billion.

The report showed that GCC transactions value is at odd with the global M&A landscape, in which the average value of deals for the first nine months grew 11.7 percent on the last full year.
