(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Vodafone addressed a host of industry speakers at Doha TecShare Middle East 2014, yesterday. The two-day event brings together a range of experts and stakeholders to discuss best practice in access to technology for people with disabilities at a national and regional level. TecShare provides a chance to network, share experiences and influence the future of accessibility throughout the Middle East.

Speaking at TecShare as well were Mari Satur Torre, Innovation Manager at Vodafone Spain Foundation and Ricardo Garcia, Business Development Manager, Accessibility Division at ONCE & ONCE Foundation Business Group(the Spanish Blind Association). Torre and Garcia discussed Vodafone's Mobile for Good vision and its outcomes in terms of accessible ICTs.

Giving one of the opening keynotes at TecShare, Dana Haidan, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainability at Vodafone Qatar said: "I would like to thank the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and Mada Assistive Technology Center for bringing us all together today to engage in such critical debate around making technology accessible for people with disabilities and aging population, and forming strategic partnerships to bring these solutions to life. At Vodafone Qatar, we had the pleasure of working with MADA over the last 3 years trying to provide support in every way we can to the amazing work that MADA does in helping improve the quality of life of people with disabilities using technology to enable them to live independently. Technology is indeed so powerful in making that possible, and mobile technology is even more so due to the ease of its availability and its portability."

Haidan added: "At Vodafone, we want to make the mobile phones and services we provide easier to use, particularly for customers who are elderly or for people with special needs. The number of people excluded from mobile communications due to profound disabilities is relatively small, but the potential benefits of using technology to improve quality of life are substantial."
