Vodafone Qatar's revenue up 24 percent in 9M

(MENAFN) Vodafone Qatar reported an increase in its revenue to reach USD308.88 million during the January-September period, up by 24 percent compared with the same period last year, as well as registering an increase in its customer base, which grew by 16 percent to over 1.2 million compared to September 2013, the Peninsula Qatar reported.

Vodafone Qatar said that the increase in revenue was attributed to a combination of continued customer growth, as well as launching a number of new products into the market which have been positively received, particularly amongst our Qatari customers.

Despite the growth in revenue Vodafone Qatar recorded a net loss of USD21.94 million during the January-June period, which is an improvement of 49 percent compared to the same period last year.

"We continue to invest heavily in our network, building new indoor and outdoor sites and upgrading sites in key locations. In areas that are densely populated, we are increasing network capacity to ensure we deliver a great experience to our customers. 4G coverage expansion is ongoing; we have introduced 4G in Wakra, Hamad International Airport and also increased our coverage in the desert area," Vodafone's Chairman said.

Vodafone Qatar also said that they are currently focusing on their ability to lay a state-of-the-art fiber optic infrastructure in Qatar, which is part of the company's commitment to build a world class converged network in Qatar and their desire to offer customers greater choice, greater product innovation and meet the burgeoning demand for data services.
