Kuwait invests USD4.8b in airport expansion project


(MENAFN) Kuwait announced it has awarded a contract worth USD4.8 billion to a local company for the expansion of the country's only international airport, Arab News reported.

The contract, one of the state's mega projects, was awarded to Kharafi National, Kuwait's leading construction firm, which will build a new terminal for Kuwait International Airport and a new runway.

Under the contract, the company will also build around 30 gates to boost the facility's capacity from the current 7 million passengers to 13 million in 2016, with expectations that capacity will reach 25 million passengers by 2025 when the expansion is completely done.
