Qatar- Hart needs more consistency: Kahn

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) England's number one goalkeeper Joe Hart needs to be more 'consistent' if he wants to be hailed as the best in business believes former German goalkeeper Oliver Kahn.

The former Bayern Munich legend rates his fellow German and Bayern star Manuel Neuer, 2014 World Cup winner in Brazil, way ahead of the Manchester City keeper.

"Neuer makes a lot less mistakes than Hart," said the 45-year-old while speaking to reporters at the Doha Goals 2014 Forum here yesterday.

"If you look at him there are some games where he plays not very well, Manuel (Neuer) is more on a constant level than Hart.

"Hart needs to be more consistent to be the best," he added.

On current form Kahn rated Neuer as the best.

"He was shifting goalkeeping on the next level but we will see what happens in future.

"It's difficult to compare him with goalkeepers of the past because it's difficult to compare different generations, but at the moment he is the best goalkeeper in the world.

"He has all the range of a goalkeeper and is the best in everything he does.

"He's not a goalkeeper, more of a field player, and that's the most difference to the other goalkeepers."

"I think Neuer changed the game of goalkeeping in the World Cup," said Kahn who represented Germany on 86 occasions and played for Bayern for 14 years from 1994 to 2006.

Neuer and Hart will meet in the Champions League match at the end of the month in Manchester City's backyard. The Blues are aiming to make it to the knock-out stages of the tournament for the first time.

"On current form Bayern, Barcelona and Real Madrid are the top clubs," said Kahn, who appeared in the 2002 World Cup final in the 2€0 defeat to Brazil and became the only goalkeeper to win the Golden Ball at the same event.

"It's a big chance for Bayern to put Manchester City out and they will want to do it. But if you look at Roma then they are not playing very well, so we will see."

City's lost their Champions League group opener in Munich in September and have since drawn their last two games against Roma and CSKA Moscow.

The English side have to win against Russians at home tomorrow to revive their hopes of qualifying for the last sixteen.
