Having tried everything he could think of with traditional banks credit unions crowdfunding angels and venture firms successful entrepreneur and guru Chris Cayer is doing something he never thought he'd ever have to do- he's standing on the side of a highway with a sign that reads “Will Work For Seed Money.”
Recently he and his team were stretched to their limits in preparing for the launches of several new ventures and they had agreed to defer taking on additional clients because one of their newer clients had confirmed an order for a $35000 project that would occupy their time for 6 weeks while they completed the work needed to get their new businesses ready for angel and EB-5 funding that is expected to come in sometime in the next few weeks. At least that was the plan until last week they found out that the client had put the contract on indefinite hold while they focus on other priorities.
Although that's something that happens in business all the time this time the team was completely unprepared tapped out and without financial reserves to see them through as they had invested everything they had in getting this far in their various projects and business launches.
Now of the 5 team members 4 of them are facing homelessness in spite of being so close to millions of dollars in funding and many times that in first year sales. Projections for the combined 3 firms and more than 25 business lines that they will offer for the first year exceed $75 million in revenues with an additional amount of grant revenues expected to come in between $20-40 million.
With strategic relationships at major universities solar companies credit card transaction firms and global consulting firms at stake Mr. Cayer tried everything to get a bridge investment seed capital angel investors and traditional loans all to no avail. He even started a GoFundMe campaign in the hopes to keep the wolves off the doorstep and couldn't raise enough on such short notice.
Now he's taking his pitch to the streets and highways along Arizona's busy thoroughfares in the hopes of catching the eye of someone who can help them with a bridge loan to keep the team housed mobile connected and fed and even add a couple of extra hands to the team to push these businesses the last few yards to their goal.
Each of the businesses involved are leveraging high-powered websites and advanced technology applications that have taken months to build and code. Now none of the sites is less than 70% complete but angels generally want to see it at 100% before they invest and without cash in hand to keep the lights on these businesses may never get off the ground which would be a travesty for the families involved but even more so for Arizona as the three companies are projected to hire over 750 people within their first 3 years of operations.
Mr. Cayer's can-do attitude keeps shining though as he puts his heart and his best foot forward to reach out to Arizonans and the world for one last chance at saving these families their businesses and their dreams.
