~~Texas Renewables 2014 conference in Dallas is shaping Texas’ evolving energy markets

DALLAS (Nov. 3 2014) – Reports from key battleground states where activists feel new muscle with success in legalizing pot are saying their next crusade will be the Green Revolution.  “Marijuana is green renews people’s spirits and is a renewable national asset doing so much good” said one worker who asked we not use her name “so our symbols and icons are easily transferrable to the renewable energy revolution now that we are winning the pot war.”

She also pointed out that states like Colorado are reaping huge revenues from taxing pot and that money can be put to good use subsidizing renewable energy projects.  “Moreover” she added “several companies now offer payment plans that enable consumers to install rooftop solar electricity while eliminating first-cost sticker shock.  And developers are starting to include rooftop photovoltaics (PV) in their standard residential packages.”

Leading Texas renewable energy activists agree.  “We are aware of retail electric providers [REPs] that are investigating the potential of creating virtual utilities – utilities constructed not of bricks and mortar but of aggregated small dispersed generators” said Russel Smith executive director of the Texas Renewable Energy Industries Association (TREIA) that is meeting this week in Dallas Texas.  “We believe that change in utility structures is inevitable; we just don’t know what form or how long it will take.”

Smith spoke phone as from his office in Austin Texas as a guest on the ScienceNews Radio Network program the Promise of Tomorrow with Colonel Mason www.PromiseOfTomorrow.biz .  The program originates in Dallas Texas and can soon be heard archived Webcast for its world audience.

On the program Mason asked Smith if he is surprised to learn that marijuana legalization activists are now throwing their efforts to the renewables movement.  “Well no” Smith replied “there are elements of every political stripe out there who have opinions on this because after all energy is central to everyone.”  See Legalize Barbie photo and related story covered in the Examiner here ~~http://www.examiner.com/article/legalize-pot-activists-joining-green-revolution .
