ME air cargo volume surges 17 percent in September

(MENAFN) According to a data released by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), air cargo volumes in the Middle East surged in September, Arabian Business reported.

The region's cargo volume expanded by 17 percent in the cited month, showing strong results when compared with the average growth in demand of 10.1 percent, while capacity grew 14.5 percent.

The region was well ahead of its geographic rivals as airlines in Asia-Pacific, North America, Middle East and Africa all posted strong growth, but European airlines saw a decline of 1.6 percent.

"Overall, improvements in global business confidence have stagnated-which could mean a bumpy road ahead for air cargo," IATA's director general and CEO said in a statement.
