Building Approvals in Australia Down 112


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Sydney November 03 (QNA) - Australian approvals to build new homes fell more-than-expected last week official data showed on Monday.

Australian Building Approvals were down 11.0% compared to the market expectation that they would fall just 1%. vs. The Australian Bureau of Statistics said in its report that Building Approvals increased 3.4% last week.

The Australian Industry Group (AIG) Manufacturing Index was also released today. It was up to 49.4 compared to the 46.5 recorded last month. The index measures relative level of business conditions in the sector based on a survey of 200 manufacturers. Despite the increase a score less than 50 reflects a contraction in the sector. (QNA)
