Qatar Sudan Sign MoU on Military Cooperation

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Doha November 02 (QNA) - HE Minister of State for Defence Affairs Maj. Gen. Hamad bin Ali Al Attiyah met here Sunday with Sudanese Defense Minister Lieutenant-General Abdelrahim Mohamed Hussein.

Talks during the meeting dealt with aspects of cooperation between the two brotherly countries and means of enhancing them especially in military fields.

The two sides also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on military cooperation between them in various fields.

The MoU was signed by HE the Minister of State for Defence Affairs and the Sudanese Defense Minister.

The meeting and the signing ceremony of the MoU were attended by HE the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Major General (Pilot) Ghanim bin Shaheen Al Ghanim HE Sudan's Ambassador to Qatar Yasser Khadr Khalaf Allah a number of senior officers of the armed forces and members of the delegation accompanying the Sudanese Minister.

The Sudanese Minister praised the brotherly relations existing between his country and the State of Qatar confirming that it is witnessing further development thanks to the directions of the two countries' leadership and the common desire to elevate them towards wider horizons for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) the Sudanese Defense Minister said that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding today between Qatar and Sudan represents a significant step towards strengthening the existing relations between Doha and Khartoum especially between the two armed forces.

He said the signing comes in the context of the brotherly relations extended between the two countries noting at the same time to the position of the State of Qatar in supporting the Sudanese issues.

He added that everyone knows the role played by Qatar and its positive and successful initiatives for peace in Darfur as well as its appreciated and active contributions in Sudan noting to the great appreciate and deep respect of the Sudanese people and leadership to the State of Qatar Government and people.

The Sudanese Defense Minister arrived in Doha yesterday evening where he was welcomed by HE the Minister of State for Defence Affairs Maj. Gen. Hamad bin Ali Al Attiyah and the Sudanese Ambassador in Doha. (QNA)
