Algerian, Chinese lawmakers reaffirm commitment to combat terrorism

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Speaker of the People's National Assembly (Lower House of the Algerian Parliament) Mohammad Larbi Ould Khelifa on Sunday reaffirmed resolve of his country to dry up the sources of financing for terrorism and stabilize neighbouring Libya and Mali.

During his talks with visiting Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee Yu Zhengsheng, Ould Khelifa said Algeria spares no effort to find mutually-acceptable solutions to the crises in Libya and Mali.

The talks showed that both Algeria and China hold identical views on several international issues, notably the combat against terrorism and the opposition to foreign intervention in the domestic affairs of other countries, according to a statement by the Algerian lower chamber.

Yu Zhengsheng, who doubles as the fourth top member of the 18th Standing Committee of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China (CPC), appreciated the role of Algeria in resolving the Libyan crisis and stabilizing the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Besides the bilateral ties and the strategic partnership, the two sides discussed the Syrian crisis and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and welcomed the increasing international recognition of the State of Palestine, the statement said.

On Thursday, October 30, the Swedish government officially recognized the State of Palestine and ignored the Israeli protests.
