EU voices concern over situation in Burkina Faso

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The EU has expressed concern over events in Burkina Faso and called on the sense of responsibility of all military and security forces in maintaining the security of the population.

"We reiterate our commitment to a peaceful democratic transition, led by civilian transitional authorities and leading to the holding of democratic, inclusive and transparent elections as soon as possible," said an EU spokesperson in a statement late on Sunday.

"Such a process would provide the best guarantee to meet the legitimate aspirations of the people of Burkina Faso, as well as for the maintenance of normal international relations of the country and the continuation of significant development efforts and ongoing cooperation," it added.
