Jaguar to open USD800m factory in Britain

(MENAFN) Jaguar Land Rover, the British luxury car manufacturer, announced it has opened a USD800 million engine manufacturing center in western England, which will help create 1.400 jobs, Arab News reported.

The car manufacturer, owned by Indian giant Tata Motors, said that by opening this plant the company will now be able to manufacture in-house engines for new Jaguar Land Rover products, ending its current reliance on sub-contractors, as well as help it in supporting the growing UK manufacturing industry and will further support Jaguar Land Rover's contribution to a rebalanced economy.

Britain's automotive industry is currently enjoying a renaissance, with about 2.5 million automobile engines were produced in the UK last year, 60 percent of them for export, as well as more than 1.5 million cars being made in Britain last year, which is the highest since 2007.

Although the great British brands, Mini, Jaguar, Land Rover, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, are now being under foreign ownership, they all have invested heavily in the country, as well as Japanese manufacturers Nissan, Toyota and Honda, which all have a significant presence in the country.
