US Criticizes Israel's Decision to Build 1000 Housing Units in Jerusalem

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Washington October 28 (QNA) - The United States strongly criticized Israel's decision to build 1000 housing units in the occupied Jerusalem stressing that such move would be "incompatible" with peace efforts in the region.

In a statement State Department spokeswoman Jennifer Sacchi has expressed serious concern about the Israeli decision saying "We continue to make our position absolutely clear that we view settlement activity as illegitimate and unequivocally oppose unilateral steps that prejudge the future of Jerusalem." She added "Israel's leaders have said they would support a pathway to a two-state solution but moving forward with this type of action would be incompatible with the pursuit of peace." (QNA)
