Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan UAE Foreign Minister received Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.
Shaikh Abdullah and Sheikh Hasina discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the UAE and Bangladesh especially in the fields of economic relations and investment. They also reviewed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Welcoming the Prime Minister’s visit Shaikh Abdullah said that it would contribute to the further strengthening of co-operation and friendship between the two countries. He stressed the importance of economic and trade cooperation as well as the identification of investment opportunities so as to help to achieve the Millennium Development Goals especially in the area of energy.
Shaikh Abdullah expressed his appreciation for the effective role of the Bangladeshi workforce and its contributions to various development projects in the UAE.
Sheikh Hasina said her country was eager to develop its relations with the UAE and expressed her admiration of the comprehensive urban development achieved by the country thanks to the wise leadership of the President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Expressing her hope that the UAE would continue to enjoy progress in all fields she thanked the UAE for the help it provides to Bangladesh in the aftermath of natural calamities.
The meeting was attended by the UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Saeed bin Hajar Al Shehhi and the Bangladeshi Ambassador to the UAE Mohammed Omran.
Shaikh Abdullah also received the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Abul Hassan Mahmoud Ali in Abu Dhabi. Shaikh Abdullah welcomed his Bangladeshi counterpart and expressed the hope that the visit would further boost bilateral relations.
The UAE Foreign Minister stressed the country’s keenness to strengthen cooperation ties with Bangladesh in all fields.
On his part the Bangladeshi Foreign Minister expressed hope to further boost bilateral relations between the UAE and Bangladesh. He commended the urban development that the U.A.E. has been witnessing in all fields.
