(MENAFN) According to the General Statistics Office, Vietnam earned USD5 billion from wood and wood-based products exports in the January-October period, Xinhua reported.
In the ten-month period, wood exports to Japan rose 22.03 percent, the US by 14.35 percent, while to China they dipped by 19 percent. The three countries account for 66.35 percent of the country's total export.
In October alone, Vietnam exporters shipped wood and timber products abroad worth USD528 million, continuing an upward trend in the market, the data released showed.
Wood and timber product exports are now fifth among the ten main export industries of Vietnam. Their export value is estimated to hit USD10 billion by 2020.
