 15 Syrian regime personnel killed in North Syria - monitor
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))  Up to 15 members of the Syrian regime forces died in fighting with opposition groups in northern Aleppo, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Saturday.
The fighting has been raging since middle of last night around Handraft village, located in rural region of the main city Aleppo, the monitor said, indicating that the clashes subsided after the regime gunners subjected their foes' positions to heavy bombardment.
Fighting involve the regime forces, backed by Lebanese and Afghan militiamen, took place in Al-Buraij, just northeast of the war-damaged city, it said indicating that the Syrian Army artillerymen intervened, hitting opposition posts; coupled with air strikes.
In Khan Shaikhoun town in southern Idlib, a man and three of his daughters lost their life in raids by the regime warplanes, the monioriting group said, also reporting fierce clashes at several fronts in Damascus' rural regions.
According to UN figures, more than 190,000 have been killed since flare-up of the fighting in Syria in March 2011. The unrest began in the form of protests and civil disobedience before snowballing into full-scale battles with various arms. (end) tk.rk
