Nintendo posts net profit of USD132m in H1

(MENAFN) Nintendo, Japan's videogame giant, announced posting a net profit of USD132 million in the January-June period of 2914 on a weak yen which offset slowing sales, AFP reported.

The Japanese company earned USD132.15 billion in the April-September period, way up from USD5.54 million a year ago, despite sales falling 12.8 percent to USD1.58 billion on strong demand for its 3DS games system.

The Nintendo kept its full-year USD184.83 billion profit forecast unchanged and said that its operating loss in the January-June period declined to USD1.98 million, down from USD215.32 million.

"We expect Nintendo to continue to struggle in the short term, but think management has made the right decisions," an analyst at Junko Yamamura said in a statement.
