IRD Gulf Coast Office Accepting Applicants for YouthBuild Program

GULFPORT MS –The International Relief and Development (IRD) is recruiting candidates for its next YouthBuild class which begins in early November.

YouthBuild is a nine-month education and construction training program that offers Gulf Coast area young adults without high school diplomas the opportunity to continue their education build skills and serve the community.

YouthBuild is a US Department of Labor program that helps young people earn a GED learn a trade and gain work readiness and leadership skills. The Gulfport program will teach hands-on construction training as participants help build local affordable housing. Participants who successfully complete the program receive a nationally recognized construction trade certification.

Eligible candidates are 16 to 24 years old low income a high school dropout or basic skills deficient and motivated to make a positive change in their lives. Those selected earn a stipend for the program duration and will gain skills that last a lifetime.
