OIC condemns Israeli decision to build 1,000 housing units in Jerusalem

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned on Tuesday the Israeli occupation's approval to build 1,000 housing units in occupied Jerusalem city.

The organization asserts that the continuous Israeli expansion of settlements forms a clear violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions, OIC Secretary General Iyad Madani said in a statement.

The OIC chief also strongly condemned Israeli occupation forces and settlers for their attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque, including attack on worshipers inside the mosque, and the attempts to impose unlawful rules.

Madani warned against consequences of Israeli occupation and prejudice which jeopardize stability and security of the whole region.

OIC chief called on the Security Council to live up to its responsibility, calling on the US, which plays the mediation role, to be an actual mediator.

The organization called on the quartet and international community to act toward Israeli blunt violations to end the repeated aggression, and to respect the religious sites.
