Voting Ends in Tunisia Parliamentary Elections

(MENAFN- QNA) Polling centres closed doors as voting has ended in Tunisia's parliamentary elections which took place on Sunday for electing 199 members of the 217-member parliament.

Tunisia's elections authority sources said that the election turnout exceeded 50 percent.

Over 1300 partisan, coalition and independent lists are competing for the 217 parliament seats.

Some 5.3 million Tunisians are eligible to vote in the elections.

To tackle the security threats, Tunisian authorities deployed some 70 thousand security personnel to the polling centres, and also temporarily closed the borders with Libya.
